Caerphilly Castle is back open for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown.

The castle reopened its doors to visitors today (Thursday, August 6).

As part of coronavirus safety measures, plastic partition screens, marked arrows on the ground, one-way systems and social distancing measures have been installed.

There will also be regular deep cleans, with door handles, railings and interactive screens disinfected daily.

Hand sanitiser will be available for visitors to use.

Council partially reopens visitor attractions

However, visitors to the castle, which is run by Welsh Government body Cadw, will have to book at least 24 hours in advance.

Cadw members, who are entitled to free access to the castle, will also need to reserve time-allocated tickets in advance. Members will also need to bring their cards as proof of membership.

The castle will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

To pre-book time-allocated tickets to visit the castle, go to obv.sr/tckcas or call 03000 252 239.
