Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced it will begin carrying out repairs inside the homes of council house tenants for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown.
The council stopped carrying out non-essential repair work at council-owned homes in March.
Tenants will be able to report new non-urgent repairs from September 1.
Non-essential repair work to the outside of homes resumed earlier in the summer.
Tenants who need repairs carried out at their homes will be contacted by the council to discuss coronavirus safety measures and whether or not anyone in the house is self-isolating or shielding.
The council has said that repairs will only be carried out if tenants give consent, due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19.
Councillor Lisa Phipps, the council’s cabinet member for homes, said: “This will come as welcome news to many tenants, but we also understand that some may prefer not to have work undertaken at this time.
“The safety and wellbeing of tenants and staff remains our priority, and work will only be carried out with mutual consent and in line with Welsh Government guidelines.”
