Gerwyn Price has been beaten in his first Premier League Darts game following the coronavirus pandemic.

Price, 35, from Markham, suffered a 7-4 defeat to Nathan Aspinall in a behind closed doors match-up in Milton Keynes.

The competition resumed on Tuesday, August 25 having been suspended due to the pandemic.

The Iceman, who is ranked third on the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) order of merit, surrendered a 3-1 half-time lead against the Englishman, who is ranked sixth in the world.

Price started the stronger of the two players, taking command of the tie early on.

However, three misses in the sixth leg allowed the 29-year-old Aspinall to draw level.

Aspinall then punished two further missed doubles by Price in the eighth leg, and while a 132 finish kept Price in contention, it was Aspinall who closed out the win with a 108 checkout.

Price will take on world number nine Gary Anderson tonight (Wednesday, August 26) in the same competition.

Price is currently 7th in the table, having won one, drawn three and lost three after seven games.
