Gerwyn Price has returned to winning ways with an emphatic 7-1 Premier League Darts drubbing over Gary Anderson on Wednesday night (August 26).

The win over Anderson, who is ranked ninth on the PDC (Professional Darts Corportation) order of merit, puts world number three Price in a healthy position to secure his place in the second half of the season.

The victory came a day after Price, 35, was beaten 7-4 by Nathan Aspinall as Premier League Darts returned following the coronavirus lockdown.

Speaking after the win, Price, from Markham, said: “I needed to win to put the pressure on the other players and I’ve done that.

“I’m still under pressure and it still depends on other results, but I just want to prepare and try to win tomorrow now.

“I’m happy with the win – 7-1 is a bit flattering but I think I deserved to win.”

Price added: “I don’t think Gary played particularly well but I got ahead of him early, put him under pressure and took my chances.

“I’m playing well, I just need to be a little bit more confident. Having five months off, you need games to get yourself going and I just need to play more regularly.”

Price will take on world number 23 Jermaine Wattimena, from the Netherlands, in a ‘Judgement Night’ clash on Thursday night (August 27).

Price will go into the game needing to win just one leg to book his place in the second round of the competition.
