Gerwyn Price has apologised to Peter Wright following their spat at the semi-final of the PDC World Championship
Gerwyn Price

Gerwyn Price suffered an 8-6 defeat to Nathan Aspinall in the Premier League Darts 13th round matchup on Wednesday night (September 2).

It was the second time in just over a week that Price, 35, had been beaten by the Englishman, who is ranked fifth in the table – one place below the Iceman.

Aspinall won four of the first five legs in the opening exchanges.

Price, from Markham, closed the gap before his opponent regained the break to go 5-2 up.

Price clawed his way back again, levelling the match, but Aspinall fired back to seal the victory in a deciding leg.

Gerwyn Price climbs table with wins over two highest ranked players

Price lost the previous encounter with Aspinall 7-4 on August 25, in what was their first Premier League Darts match since the competition was suspended earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Price returns to action on Thursday night (September 3), taking on Daryl Gurney of Northern Ireland.

Gurney, who is ranked seventh in the PDC Order of Merit, is currently eighth in the Premier League table.

The matches are being played in Milton Keynes without spectators present due the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
