Caerphilly visitor centre manager Martin Cook with resident Suzie Rees

A mobile app that gives residents and visitors a virtual tour of Caerphilly town has been launched.

The audio app, which was launched by Caerphilly resident Suzie Rees, can be used for self-guided walking tours and explains the history and legends of the town.

Ms Rees said: “Growing up I didn’t realise how unusual it was to have a medieval castle as your playground but its stories always fascinated me.

The more I learnt about the castle the more I learnt about local history and the more I wanted people to see the amazing place I live in as I do.”

Council cabinet member Lisa Phipps said: “Caerphilly Audio Tours gives us all the opportunity to spend more time both in the town or from home discovering the secret history of our beautiful castle and interesting past.

“This is a brilliant idea Suzie, especially at a time where more people are looking for fascinating walks in their local area.”
