Coleg Gwent has joined the UK Government’s ‘Kickstart’ scheme, which aims to reduce long-term unemployment and skills shortages.
The college has a number of campuses across the Gwent region, including one in Crosskeys.
The scheme will be available to people aged between 16 and 24 who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
As part of the initiative companies will offer six-month work placements, with wages paid by the government alongside a £1,500 bursary.
The employer engagement team at the college will help local businesses access the funding and guide the through the application process.
