Two men who broke into a Tesco supermarket and helped themselves to £10,000 worth of cigarettes have been jailed.

Wayne Snell, 43 of Trowbridge Road, Cardiff, and Craig McCaffrey, 40 of De Bawdrip Road, Tremorfa, twice broke into the Caerphilly Crossways Tesco store on Gallagher Retail Park in November 2017 and January 2018.

During the first break-in, on November 22, 2017, the pair stole £2,800 worth of electrical items, while the second raid on January 8, 2018, netted them £10,000 worth of cigarettes.

The pair also admitted to a third Tesco raid – at Newport’s Harlech Road Retail Park – on February 1, 2018, where they stole mobile phones worth almost £4,500.

Snell was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison, while McCaffrey was jailed for 21 months at a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, February 22.
