Caerphilly Observer is not owned by a large media company – we are an independent news service started in 2009 by local journalist Richard Gurner. We rely on the support of our advertisers to offer our news service, but we’re trying to change things.

The pandemic has shown us that relying on advertising alone is not a good business model to fund local journalism. We need the help of our readers. So far we have more than 100 members supporting us on a regular basis and we’d love to get to 250 by the end of 2022.

The more people we have supporting us, the less vulnerable we are to changes in the economy, and the greater our potential for future growth.
