A Caerphilly-based computer animation studio has produced a second music video for American rock-band Foo Fighters.
Bomper Studio, which is based in an office overlooking Caerphilly Castle, worked on the video for the band’s latest track Chasing Birds.
The video was released on Tuesday and has been shared across Foo Fighters’ social media pages.
Bomper was approached by American-based record label RCA Records to produce the video, having worked on the video for Foo Fighters’ ‘No Son of Mine’, which was released earlier this year.
Director Emlyn Davies and co-director Josh Hicks took inspiration from 1960s psychedelic art when producing the video. Production began in February this year and finished earlier this month.
Emlyn, who is originally from Penpedairheol, started the company in 2014. Since then, it has grown from humble beginnings at business start-up centre Welsh ICE, on Caerphilly Business Park, to one of the leading creative studios in the UK.
It employs nine full-time permanent staff with a further seven to ten freelancers, depending on the work.
After working with brands such as Cadbury’s, Carlsberg, Hello Kitty, Levi’s, Polo Mints, Tesco, and providing visuals for Ready Steady Cook and Richard Osman’s House of Games on the BBC, the company decided to produce a short animation to show off its skills.
Coffee Run, released in February 2020, was the studio’s first in-house creative film about the pitfalls of doing a round of hot drinks for colleagues – and that caught the eye of RCA Records.
Bomper also produced the video for American country singer Tyler Childers’ song Country Squire – in which a copy of Caerphilly Observer makes a brief appearance in a single frame.
