Bedwas Workmen’s Hall will be welcoming the community for an open day this Saturday.

The hall’s management committee has invited residents into the hall to view their draft plans for the renovation of the 98-year-old venue.

The committee, which is made up of unpaid volunteers, also want residents to share their ideas for the venue’s future, as well as their past memories of the hall.

Attendees can also have a tour of the hall and learn more about what classes and events are running there.

Free cake and tea will be available on the open day, which will run between 12pm and 3pm on Saturday, June 19.

Currently, the committee is fundraising towards the renovation of the hall, including the installation of a lift so it can comply with the 2005 Disability Act.

The hall’s management committee has also released a survey to gather residents’ views on the hall.

Last month, the hall reopened for the first time since before Christmas, after lockdown restrictions were eased by the Welsh Government.

However, it was only able to reopen after work was carried out to fix its storm-damaged roof.

There were initial fears the hall would be closed for several months while the damage was fixed.
