A large grass fire ripped through the mountain above Abertridwr on Monday night.
The fire started at around 7.30pm and was put out around three and a half hours later.
Residents were advised to close their doors and windows due to the smoke.
In a statement, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Several crews from across South Wales attended the scene and used specialist equipment including hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire.”
A stop message was issued at around 11pm, with the blaze extinguished.
The fire service has not confirmed the cause of the fire.
Abertridwr resident Stephen Willey told Caerphilly Observer: “It spread across the rear of properties on Underwood Terrace and Graigwen Crescent. Not sure how close it was to those, but it did appear to be spread right across that side of the valley.
“You could literally hear it crackling across the other side of the valley.”
