Woman, 67, dies following collision in Markham

A 67-year-old woman has died from her injuries suffered in a road traffic collision in Markham.

Gwent Police confirmed the identity of the woman as Sandra Chamberlain, from Blackwood. Her next of kin are receiving support from specialist officers.

The collision happened on Pant y Cefn road at around 11.20am on December 9 and involved a silver Nissan Navara and Ms Chamberlain.

Ms Chamberlain, who was 66 at the time of the collision, was taken to hospital by Air Ambulance with serious injuries.

A 39-year-old woman from the Markham area was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has been released under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the Markham area, between 10.45am and 11.30am on Friday 9 December, to contact them.
