Three people, including a three-year-old girl have been taken to hospital after a car crash near Oakdale.

A 29-year-old man has life-threatening injuries while a 33-year-old woman has also been injured.

The crash happened at about 1pm on Christmas Day on the B4251, Yard Coal Rise, between Islwyn High School and Oakdale Business Park.

The three injured people were travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa.

The driver of a Mini Cooper suffered minor injuries. He had been arrested on suspicion of three offences of serious injury by dangerous driving, and being unfit through drink or drugs.

Police are making enquiries to trace a red Vauxhall Astra, which was also being driven on the road at the time and have now located the car.

Another man, aged 25, has been arrested on suspicion of three offences of serious injury by dangerous driving and being unfit through drink or drugs.

Both men remain in police custody.
