A 29-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries in a Christmas Day car crash remains in a stable, but critical, condition, according to Gwent Police.
The crash happened at about 1pm on Christmas Day on the B4251, Yard Coal Rise, between Islwyn High School and Oakdale Business Park.
Three people who were travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa were taken to hospital. These were the 29-year-old driver, with life-threatening injuries, a three-year-old girl with a serious head injury and a 33-year-old woman.
The three-year-old girl’s condition is described by police as stable and not life-threatening, while the 33-year-old woman has been released from hospital.
The driver of a Mini Cooper suffered minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of three offences of serious injury by dangerous driving, and being unfit through drink or drugs. He remains under arrest in hospital.
Police are making enquiries to trace a red Vauxhall Astra, which was also being driven on the road at the time and have now located the car.
Another man, aged 25, was arrested on suspicion of three offences of serious injury by dangerous driving and being unfit through drink or drugs. He has been released under investigation.
