Person dies at Gilfach Fargoed railway station

British Transport Police attended the scene

A person has died on the railway line at Gilfach Fargoed station, police have confirmed.

Officers from British Transport Police and Gwent Police were called to the station just before 1.30pm on Friday, December 30.

Paramedics attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The railway line was closed until 3.45pm when services resumed.

In a statement, British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Gilfach Fargoed station at 1.28pm on December 30 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
