A 79-year-old man who was attacked on Blackwood High Street last week has been released from hospital.

The unnamed man was assaulted at around 3pm on Thursday, December 29.

Officers arrested a 35-year-old man from the Cardiff area on suspicion of assault. He has since been released on conditional bail.

Gwent Police continues to investigate the incident.
