Some of the Rhymney People’s Postcode Lottery winners

Rhymney’s People’s Postcode Lottery winners will feature in a documentary on national TV this January.

The Welsh Valley that won the Lottery will air on Channel 4 on January 28 and will detail how the lives of some of the four hundred-plus winners have changed since winning a combined total of £3.7 million in May 2022.

Out of hundreds of winners in Rhymney, there were eight residents from Pen-y-Dre who won a substantial £185,000 each as their postcode, NP22 5DL, was named as the full winning postcode.

Another resident, Edward ‘Ted’ Owen actually won £370,000 after playing with two tickets.

Speaking at the time of the win, Ted, a retired steel worker, said:  “You never expect to win this amount of money. I am absolutely elated.”

Ted had hoped to go on a cruise and buy a new car – the documentary may well reveal if these hopes came true.

The Welsh Valley that won the Lottery airs Saturday 28th January on Channel 4 at 6.05pm
