An estimated half a million pounds worth of cannabis has been seized by police at a disused property in Rhymney.
The cannabis factory, which was made up of around 500 plants, was uncovered on January 4 after officers responded to reports of “suspicious activity”, according to a spokesperson for Gwent Police.
Caerphilly Observer understands the property is located on the junction between Moriah Street and Plantation Terrace.
Reports of a power outage in the area have been reported as police undertook the operation. The factory was dismantled and the cannabis was taken away to be destroyed.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police told Caerphilly Observer that enquiries into who was responsible for setting up the cannabis factory are ongoing.
Inspector Lysha Thompson, of Gwent Police, said: “Our Caerphilly north team is committed to targeting drug offences and have recently carried out a number of warrants in the area.
“Drug supply will not be tolerated in Gwent and we’re committed to protecting our communities against the harmful effects of illegal drugs.
“If you’re concerned about something in your neighbourhood, please get in touch. The information we receive from the public plays a vital role in planning our enforcement action and has the potential to bring criminals to justice.”
