A free afternoon tea is being put on for residents who are over 60 in Aberbargoed, Bargoed and Gilfach.
The event will take place at the Arthur Balfour Conservative and Working Men’s club in Aberbargoed on March 3 and will start at 3.30pm.
Bargoed Town Council has funded and organised the event following last year’s afternoon tea events which took place for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee and again in the autumn.
Cllr Peter Collins, who represents Aberbargoed told Caerphilly Observer more about the event and said: “It’s for the people who perhaps don’t get out there too often.”
Cllr Collins added that by having the event in Aberbargoed after a previous one in Gilfach, Bargoed Town Council hopes to share out the events.
There will be lots of entertainment including bingo, a prize draw and old photographs that will hopefully help start conversations.
Mike Edmunds, a local resident, will be singing and compering so attendees will be able to have a dance. Refreshments and a buffet will be provided.
There are around 120 to 125 spots available in total but Cllr Collins estimates that perhaps 80 or 90 people have already booked.
Several Bargoed Town Council members are planning to attend and Cllr Collins said that this event would follow the “very successful” afternoon teas that have been held before.
“A good time will be had by all,” added Cllr Collins.
To attend people must be over 60 years of age and a resident of Aberbargoed, Bargoed or Gilfach.
To secure a place, residents must register with Bargoed Town Council.
