Each year, calendars showing pictures of Llanbradach past and present go on sale, with the money raised put back into the community.

This year, schools in Llanbradach have benefited to the tune of £500 thanks to the calendars.

Coed y brain Primary School, which was presented with a cheque for £250, is using the money to buy waterproof clothing for pupils to wear during outdoor lessons.

Cwm Glas Infants was also given £250 and has used the money to buy reading materials.

Llanbradach councillor Colin Mann, who presented the cheques to the schools, said: “It is a priority to use the proceeds from the calendars to benefit youngsters in the village. Others to benefit include young footballers. The football club caters for several hundred young people and their volunteers do a great job.

“I would like to thank Andrew King in particular. It is Andrew’s expertise that makes sure the calendars are compiled and ready to be printed.

“Thanks also to all the local photographers who contribute and those who send old photos to Andrew.”

Cllr Mann also thanked the local businesses that stock the calendars, not just in Llanbradach but also in Caerphilly, Ystrad Mynach and further afield.
