Wales under 16s celebrate their win over England Community Lions in 2022

Six Aber Valley Wolves players have been selected to represent Wales under-16s boys rugby league team during the 2023 season.

Tobie Cribb, Ryan Jones, Morgan Marozzelli, Henry Parker, Ethan Paterson and Kai Sengul are all included in the 24-player squad.

Iswlyn High School’s Jake Sheppard, who plays for Torfaen Tigers, has also been named in the squad.

The side will face England Community Lions in Abertillery on Saturday June 3, before hosting Ireland on Saturday July 22 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

The season will conclude with a trip across the border to face England Community Lions once again on Saturday September 16.

The under 16s squad held their first training camp of the season in Colwyn Bay last weekend.

Head coach Paul Berry said: “Congratulations to all the players who have been selected, and to the clubs who have played their part in supporting them to have the opportunity to represent their country.

“This is the next step in their development, and with a youth World Cup in 2025 there’s lots to play for and be excited about over the next few years.

“The open trials once again showed that there is plenty of rugby league talent in Wales and the player pool is growing all the time. Everyone is looking forward to what lies ahead this season.”
