A firefighter from Bedwas who was deployed to Turkey as part of the earthquake response earlier this year has been awarded for her bravery.
Emma Atcherley, who is the crew manager at Cardiff Central fire station, has received the Community Award of Excellence and Achievement from Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Community Council.
Firefighters Luke Davison, of Malpas station, and Robert Buckley, of Ely station, were also awarded.
They were among the team of 77 UK International Search and Rescue experts deployed through the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
While in Turkey, the firefighters were involved in search and rescue efforts.
The earthquake, which struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria on February 6, measured 7.8 magnitude.
More than 50,000 people died as a result of the disaster.
