66-year-old man dies after being hit by car in Nelson

Police are appealing for witnesses

A 66-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Nelson on Tuesday April 18.

The incident happened on the road coming off Ty Du Road, towards Whitebean Court Industrial Estate, at around 5.15pm.

Paramedics confirmed the man, who was from the Nelson area, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers, Gwent Police confirmed.

A 25-year-old man from the Caerphilly area and a 25-year-old man from the Rumney area have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody.

The collision involved a red Peugeot 207 and a black Kia Ceed.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm to come forward.
