Gerwyn Price has moved to the top of the Premier League Darts table – despite falling short in Rotterdam on Thursday night.
Price, from Markham, was denied a fifth Premier League Darts win of the season after losing to Nathan Aspinall in the final in the Netherlands.
En route to the final, 38-year-old Price saw off reigning world champion Michael Smith 6-3 before a convincing 6-1 win over fellow-Welshman Jonny Clayton to set up a date with Aspinall – who had earlier dumped home favourite and league leader Michael van Gerwen out of the competition.
But it was not Price’s night in the Netherlands, with Aspinall coming away with a 6-4 win.
However, the Iceman did secure three points in the process – seeing him leapfrog Van Gerwen into top spot.
The Premier League roadshow heads to Leeds on Thursday April 27, with new league leader Price taking on Clayton in another all-Welsh affair on the Night 13 opener.
