A man from Rhymey has admitted to causing the death of a teenage girl while under the influence of drink and drugs.

Chloe Hayman, 17, from Mountain Ash, died at the scene of a crash that took place on Brook Row, Fochriw at around 5.05am on July 24, 2022.

Keilan Roberts, 22, from Maes-y-Haf, Rhymney, was driving a Skoda Octavia in which Ms Hayman was a passenger.

In a statement released to the media through Gwent Police following her death, Chloe’s family said: “Chloe brought happiness and love wherever she went and was loved by everyone who met her.

“Our lives will never be the same again without her.”

Mr Roberts crashed the Skoda Octavia after taking drugs including ketamine, ecstasy and cocaine and being over the drink-drive limit.

Roberts appeared in Cardiff Crown Court on April 21 and pleaded guilty to all four charges against him, which included causing death without due care through the use of drugs and alcohol.

He was denied bail and remanded in custody. The sentencing will be on May 22
