A group of mums are set to take on the three highest peaks in Wales in an effort to raise £20,000 for a children’s hospice. 

The Mums v Mountains challenge will see mothers from across Wales take on Cadair Idris, Yr Wyddfa and Pen y Fan to raise funds for Ty Hafan.

The group, who come from places including Bridgend, Cardiff, and Aberystwyth will tackle the mountains on May 7.

Eight mums will take on all three peaks with Emma Humphrey from Caerphilly joining the group for the final mountain, Pen y Fan.

Alex Forbes from Llantwit Major said: “I’m really excited now but I’m also a little nervous of doing the three mountains back to back.

“I know the strength of these amazing women will keep us all going and I can’t wait to do this challenge with them who have now become friends throughout this.” 

The group has already raised more than £16,000 for the hospice which supports more than 200 children with life-limiting conditions and their families. 

Ty Hafan is one of two children’s hospices in Wales and relies on donations from the public for 80% of their care costs.
