The family of a “well-loved” grandfather who died in a collision in Tredomen have said he “will be missed deeply”.

Darran Medd, 56, from Merthyr Tydfil, died on the A472 at around 2.20pm on Tuesday June 6.

Mr Medd, who was driving a white Ford Transit van, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Gwent Police officers attended the collision with personnel from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

In a tribute issued through Gwent Police, his family said: “Our loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Darran was tragically taken from us far too soon.

“As a family we have received an outpouring of kindness and supportive words to which we are extremely grateful.

“Darran was well loved and will be missed deeply by all.”

The tribute continued: “We would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their efforts that day.”

Police want to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A472 near Tredomen between 2.10pm and 2.20pm on June 6, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.
