A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearm offences after Gwent Police were called to an address in Machen.

Police were called to an address on Min-yr-Afon, Machen, on Sunday June 25, with the Army’s explosive ordnance disposal unit (EOD), also attending as a precaution.

Several items were seized for further analysis and the man has been released on conditional bail.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “A 23-year-old man from Machen was arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act on suspicion of firearms offences and he was later released on conditional bail.

“Officers have searched a property in Machen with the support of specialist units, including the Army’s EOD who attended as a precaution.”
