A Caerphilly firm has collected two honours at one of the world’s largest cheese and dairy awards.

Castle Dairies, based on Pontygwindy Industrial Estate, won the awards for its butter – with salted butter and unsalted butter both winning awards.

The 2023 International Cheese and Dairy Awards (ICDA) was held at the Staffordshire County Showground, Stafford, in what was its 127th edition.

The awards showcase more than 5,500 dairy products each year from producers from across the globe.

It follows on from the firm’s recent successes, including being shortlisted at this year’s Wales Food and Drink Awards.

Speaking of the award wins, Castle Dairies marketing executive, Jack Stacey, said: “We have two great products in our salted Welsh and unsalted Welsh block butters.

“To receive recognition from established judges representing the dairy industry, and particularly for a body as reputable as the ICDA, is testament to what Castle Dairies stands for – high quality, great tasting Welsh produce.”

Butter made by the family-run business, which dates back to 1966, can be found in a host of major supermarkets across Wales, as well as across the border in England.
