Police enquiries into a collision that claimed the life of a 56-year-old grandfather last month are still ongoing.

Darran Medd, from Merthyr Tydfil, died on the A472 in Tredomen at around 2.20pm on Tuesday June 6.

Gwent Police has confirmed that while enquiries are ongoing, its appeal for witnesses, as well as CCTV and dashcam footage, has now concluded.

Mr Medd, who was driving a white Ford Transit van, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Gwent Police officers attended the collision with personnel from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

In a tribute issued through Gwent Police, his family said: “Our loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Darran was tragically taken from us far too soon.

“As a family we have received an outpouring of kindness and supportive words to which we are extremely grateful.

“Darran was well loved and will be missed deeply by all.”

The tribute continued: “We would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their efforts that day.”
