More than £1,750 has been raised by Caerphilly Municipal Club at a special event held in the memory of a member who passed away.

Sandra Rowlands, 60, died earlier this year and fellow members decided to hold a charity night to honour her.
Jan Field, the club’s assistant secretary, said: “The evening was well attended and made extra special with the enthusiasm of Andrew, who has Down’s syndrome and is a member of the club.

“A framed and signed rugby shirt was auctioned and raised £300. The night’s entertainment was a James Randell Tribute to David Alexander.

“The atmosphere in the club was so friendly. Thank you to everyone who made the night a success and to those who missed it please check the Muni’s website and Facebook page for future events.”

Money raised on the night has been donated to the Down’s Syndrome Association.
