More than £800 has been raised for Caerphilly Bird Rescue at this year’s Ystrad Mynach Park Fundraiser.
The event, which was organised by local project manager Rhiannon Stone, welcomed residents from all over Caerphilly County Borough to Ystrad Mynach Park on Sunday August 6 to celebrate four years of the charity fun-day.
Speaking to Caerphilly Observer, Ms Stone said: “It went really well. We were put on the smaller field and had a lot more things to fit on but everyone still enjoyed it.
“We had about 30 stalls along with the usual funfair, bouncy castle, and food vans. We raised £800 for a worthwhile charity.”
Caerphilly Bird Rescue is run by Carol Gravenor and takes in and cares for injured birds.
On the charity, Ms Stone, who is also a care worker, added: “We choose a different one each year by putting it to a vote. This year’s charity is a brilliant one and Carol is a fantastic woman who runs that on her own.
“We still haven’t decided next year’s yet but it’ll be the fifth one so something special might be planned.”
Ms Stone also announced that she has even bigger plans for 2025. She said: “I’m looking to set up a three day event in Blackwood Town, where each day is dedicated to a different charity. It’ll take some planning but that will be huge.”
