Nursery team crowned ‘Strictly Top Dancers’ at charity event

The winning ‘Pocket Rockets’ from Britannia Day Nursery

Staff and parents from a Caerphilly nursery helped raise £23,500 for the Breast Centre at Llandough Hospital through a charity dance competition.

“Team Pocket Rockets” from Britannia Day Nursery were crowned the winners of Strictly Top Dancer last month – raising £3,900 in the process.

The dance competition has been running for eight years and this year was held at the Vale Hotel in Cardiff.

The Pocket Rockets were made up of nursery staff, and parents and friends of the nursery.

All of them were complete dancing novices and were trained by the nursery’s very own Kayleigh Watts – a world champion dancer.

The team trained twice a week and performed a Latin dance and a show dance at the event.

Lyn Bourne, who co-owns the nursery on Caerphilly Business Park, said: “We were lucky to have such an amazing dancer to train us.

“Kayleigh did a fantastic Job with the team and we will always be grateful to her.

“The win was a perfect end to weeks and weeks of training hard.

“We raised over £3900 with raffles, coffee mornings, and scratch cards.”
