Twelve months after narrowly missing out on overall victory in last year’s Tour of Britain, Yorkshireman Tom Pidcock will lead the INEOS Grenadiers team at this year’s event – which comes to a close in Caerphilly on September 10.

Pidcock, 24, will be one of four home riders in the Grenadiers’ line-up, as Cardiff-born former stage winner Luke Rowe, Connor Swift, and debutant Ben Turner have also been selected to race.

The team lineup is completed by Tour de France stage winner Carlos Rodriguez, of Spain, and American Magnus Sheffield.

INEOS Grenadiers are one of the most successful teams in modern Tour of Britain history, having won the second most stages (19) to date. Sir Bradley Wiggins delivered the team’s sole overall victory in the event, which came in 2013 during their Team Sky era.

Who will be competing at this year’s Tour of Britain?

Pidcock, who has Olympic, world, and national titles to his name, sat just three seconds down on Movistar Team’s Gonzalo Serrano when the race was curtailed in 2022 following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Rowe meanwhile won the opening stage of the tour in 2012 and has established himself as one of the sport’s leading domestiques.

This year will mark his first appearance in the race in 11 years.

Fellow cyclist Swift will make his sixth consecutive appearance in his home race, with his 16th place finish two years ago marking his best result.

The eighth and final stage of this year’s competition will see cyclists race from Margam Country Park, near Port Talbot, to Caerphilly Castle on Sunday September 10.

The cyclists will enter the borough through Nelson, pass through Llanbradach and complete two laps of Caerphilly Mountain, before crossing the finish line in Caerphilly town centre.

The eyes of the world will be on Caerphilly that day, with the event being shown live in more than 150 countries across the globe.

Road closures will be in place during the event.
