Aberbargoed Fire Station is located on  St. Margarets Way

Aberbargoed Fire Brigade is hosting a recruitment day this month for anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter.

The event will take place at Morrisons in Bargoed on Monday September 18.

The event includes fire fit tests and will give people a chance to meet the crews and learn more about community and road safety advice.

On-call firefighters must live or work in the local community and can “come from all walks of life”, according to the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

In South Wales, on-call firefighters make up almost half of the operational workforce.

Visit South Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s website for more information about on-call firefighters.
