Another weekend, another round of club rugby for teams across Caerphilly County Borough on Saturday September 30.
Bargoed made it three wins from four in the WRU National Championship East with a 48-24 derby victory over Cross Keys, while Newbridge also secured their third win of the season, beating St Peters 26-20 away.
However, there were defeats for Bedwas, who fell 24-23 away to Rumney, and Penallta, who lost 28-23 at home to Glamorgan Wanderers.
Down in League One East, there was a big win for Ynysddu, who demolished local rivals Risca 67-17 away.
There were also wins for Senghenydd, who narrowly beat Bedlinog 26-25 away, while Nelson saw off Dowlais 28-13 at home.
Meanwhile, there was a home defeat for Blackwood in League Two East, losing 26-22 to Cwmbran.
There was more borough misery in League Two East Central, with Caerphilly losing 36-15 to Llanharan at Virginia Park.
Dropping down a tier to League Three East, things were far rosier for the borough’s teams, with four of the five sides picking up victories.
Abertysswg Falcons won 39-19 away at Ebbw Vale-based RTB, while Fleur de Lis demolished Llanhilleth 41-3 at home.
Machen recorded a 35-28 home win over Blaina, while league leaders Abercarn continued their perfect start with a 32-19 win over Nantyglo.
However, Rhymney suffered a narrow defeat in a high-scoring 42-37 loss at Chepstow.
Down in League Four East, Crumlin‘s winning start to the season was extended to four games after a 22-19 win up in Crickhowell.
Meanwhile, Bedwellty claimed local bragging rights with a 31-15 win at home to Hafodyrynys.
But it was disappointment for New Tredegar, who lost 38-5 at home to New Panteg, while Blackwood Stars also suffered a home defeat as Newport Saracens left the Sirhowy Valley with a 26-3 win.
Elsewhere, Pontllanfraith now sit pretty at the top of League Five East, having beaten Beaufort 25-23 at home.
It’s a similar story for Deri in League Six East, remaining top of the table after a 39-7 home win over Magor.
However, Cwmcarn lost 26-10 at Old Tylerian, while Trinant‘s trip to Trefil was postponed.
