The Bedwas, Trethomas, and Machen Community Council fireworks display will now be held in Trethomas, after it was rearranged.

Organiser Rhys Norman has confirmed the “pyromusical” will take place at Corn Field on Upper Glyn Gwyn Street, Trethomas CF83 8FZ on Friday November 3, starting at 6pm.

The display had originally been arranged to be held at Machen Welfare Ground, locally known as the Rec, but following discussions this has now changed.

There are no tickets and entry is free for all attendees.

Mr Norman said recent heavy rain meant spectators would not be able to stand on any of the pitches at the Welfare Ground.

He said: “We have made the decision to go back to our original venue. That way we can guarantee the safety of the pitches. We picked Machen originally as we thought we would have the space for the spectators to stand. Understandably we can’t use the pitches, and that leads us to access issues if we ever needed emergency services.

“Going forward. As we don’t want the event to be cancelled, we have a plan B. We will go back to our original venue, but there will be police cones going up Addison Way (Graig-Yr-Rhacca hill) to stop cars parking.

“This is for your own safety. Please don’t move them and park cars on the hill. At 5.55pm, there will be a marshal on top of Addison Way stopping people coming down as the display will start at 6pm.”

A charity collection will be held in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.

The event will be funded by the community council, and carried out by The Art of Sparks.
