A Bavarian wind band will be performing at a charity concert in Caerphilly next week to raise money for Ty Hafan.

The Böbingen Wind Band, which is based in Augsburg, Germany, will perform at St Helen’s Church on Monday October 30.

The band is led by former St Martin’s pupil Jonathan Rhys Thomas, who now lives in Germany.

The concert, which gets underway at 7pm, is being hosted by Aber Valley Male Voice Choir, which will also perform on the night.

Entry to the concert will be free, with donations to Ty Hafan encouraged.

Geraint Evans, musical director at Aber Valley Male Voice Choir, said the evening “is not to be missed”.

Mr Evans, who has led the choir for 52 years, continued: “The band’s repertoire includes Abba and Robbie Williams medleys, and a selection from Jesus Christ Superstar – as well as traditional and innovative German works.

“Start half-term week in style by giving a proper Croeso Cymraeg and Willkommen to our guests from Germany.”
