A 35-year-old man has been charged after a video of a swan being dragged by its neck outside Caerphilly Castle went viral.

The incident was filmed and posted to Facebook on Sunday December 3.

Gwent Police confirmed the man, who is from the Caerphilly area, has been charged with taking a protected wild bird.

He is due to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Monday December 18.
