Teams across Caerphilly County Borough were in action on Saturday December 16.

Bargoed crushed league leaders Ystrad Rhondda in an important top-of-the-table clash in the WRU National Championship East.

The Bulls beat their title rivals 52-15 at Bargoed Park and are now just six points behind in second with two games in hand.

Elsewhere in the division, Cross Keys have moved up to fourth after a 29-22 win away at Treorchy, while Bedwas remain seventh despite beating Cardiff Met 21-15 at the Bridgefield – their fourth win in a row.

Penallta recorded just their third win of the season, beating Rumney 23-21 at home.

However, Newbridge drop to fifth in the table after they were beaten 18-12 at home by Beddau.

Down in League One East, Ynysddu‘s date with Pontypool United was postponed, while none of the other Caerphilly County Borough sides – Nelson, Senghenydd, or Risca – were in action.

However, there was victory for Blackwood RFC in League Two East. They beat Croesyceiliog 34-15 at home and are currently second, level on points with league leaders Newport HSOB.

On the other side of the league, bottom-placed Oakdale lost their sixth game in seven matches, falling 36-20 at Usk.

Over in League Two East Central, Caerphilly suffered a 36-27 loss to Penarth at Virginia Park, but stay in fifth place.

There was also defeat for League Three East leaders Abercarn, who were beaten 26-24 away to Nantyglo.

Meanwhile, Machen were beaten convincingly at Blaina, with the hosts winning 70-10.

Abertysswg Falcons‘ match-up with RTB Ebbw Vale was postponed, while Fleur de Lys recorded a 24-18 win at bottom-placed Llanhilleth.

Over in League Four East, there was little joy for the borough side.

Bedwellty lost 24-5 away to league leaders Newport Saracens, while Hafodyrynys suffered a heavy 55-20 loss at Crickhowell.

Struggling Blackwood Stars lost 20-13 at home to Bettws, while high-flying Crumlin‘s derby with winless New Tredegar was postponed.

It was a brighter picture in League Five East for the borough sides. Hollybush beat leaders Abersychan Alexanders 22-18 away, while Pontllanfraith also earned victory on their travels – beating Forgeside 27-21.

Down in League Six East, leaders Deri‘s Friday fixture at Magor was postponed, while winless Cwmcarn United stay at the foot of the table after a 54-12 loss at home to Old Tylerian.
