Armed police were called to Blackwood’s branch of Halifax after it was robbed by a suspected gunman.
Gwent Police said it was called at 4pm today, Wednesday December 27, to the bank on High Street after a man, claiming to have a firearm, threatened staff. Police said no weapon was seen.
The man, described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build, left with a quantity of cash. No-one was hurt.
Police said the robber was wearing a hi-vis jacket over a black hoodie with a white collar, dark trousers and Caterpillar boots and was believed to be carrying an envelope or package in his right hand. He is also reported to have had brown receding hair and a dark beard.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including those with CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 or send Gwent Police a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2300438819.
