Halifax on Blackwood High Street

A man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Halifax branch in Blackwood.

Armed police were called to the bank on High Street at 4pm on Wednesday December 27, after a man, claiming to have a firearm, threatened staff and left with a quantity of cash. Police said no weapon was seen.

Later that day, at 9.55pm a man entered the Texaco Euro Garages Service Station on High Street and threatened staff. No-one was injured in either the bank robbery or the garage attempted robbery.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery and is in police custody.
