A man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Halifax branch in Blackwood.
Armed police were called to the bank on High Street at 4pm on Wednesday December 27, after a man, claiming to have a firearm, threatened staff and left with a quantity of cash. Police said no weapon was seen.
Later that day, at 9.55pm a man entered the Texaco Euro Garages Service Station on High Street and threatened staff. No-one was injured in either the bank robbery or the garage attempted robbery.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery and is in police custody.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including those with CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 or send Gwent Police a direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2300438819/2300439131
