Train services along the Rhymney line will be affected for the whole of 2024 due to the ongoing construction of the new South Wales metro.
Twenty-six services every week are set to be replaced by buses.
Journeys will be affected between Mondays and Thursdays from approximately 8pm, and Sunday evenings from around 6.30pm.
This comes after a year-long disruption to the Cardiff to Rhymney line in 2023.
A spokesperson for Transport for Wales (TfW) told Caerphilly Observer that the replacements were “to avoid long-term disruptive closures of the line”.
The Metro is hailed as a “modern, efficient and sustainable way to travel” and will benefit people across south Wales, according to TfW.
The work on the lines will include clearing overgrown trees and hedges, installing overhead Line equipment (OLE) and maintaining the tracks.
The “majority of work” is set to be completed in 2024, TfW has said.
