Gwent Police has received yet another report of an ‘object’ allegedly being thrown at a car on the A467, better known as Risca bypass.

The incident, which happened at around 8pm on Monday January 8, comes just a few months after a man had a paving slab thrown through his car windscreen on the same stretch of road.

“Inches away from my head”: Paving stone crashes through car windscreen

When asked if Gwent Police is actively looking into ways to prevent this crime, which is reportedly happening near the old brickworks, superintendent Mike Richards said: “This reckless act has been committed whilst a vehicle has been moving, putting the driver, passengers, and other road users all in danger.

“We’ll be carrying out further patrols of the area and visiting businesses as part of our enquiries to identify the offenders and ensure the safety of road users.

“The reality is, from our initial enquiries, we believe there are people in our community who know who the offenders are.”

Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log reference 2400008779.

The force can also be reached via social media.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
