The Furniture Revival was broken into

A social enterprise in Rhymney has been broken into for the fourth time in five years.

Staff at the Furniture Revival on Lawn Industrial Estate arrived at work on Wednesday January 24 to find the shop had been burgled.

The community enterprise sells reused furniture, electrical and white goods at an affordable price while also helping the environment by saving items which might otherwise end up as waste.

Retail and reuse manager Byron James told Caerphilly Observer: “We’re obviously really disappointed. It’s a sad sign of the times that people are stealing from a community charity that pours everything back in.”

Thieves entered the building via the fire escape, searched lock cupboards and took a few small electricals.

Though there were only “small losses” as there is “not a lot on-site”, it is “frustrating”, according to Byron who added: “It’s just a lot of headache and stress.”

The social enterprise took to Facebook to notify customers and followers of the incident, with many pledging their support.

Byron said: “We appreciate all of the love and care from people on social media.”

Gwent Police has already attended the site and collected evidence.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a burglary at a commercial unit in The Lawns Industrial Estate, Rhymney, at around 8am on Wednesday January 24.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information, including CCTV, is asked to call 101 or direct message us on Facebook or X quoting log reference 2400026851.”
