Britain’s Got Talent champion Richard Jones is bringing his show, Soldier Of Illusion, to Caerphilly on Saturday March 2.

The 33-year-old, a former member of the Household Cavalry, has promised a show “bigger than anything he’s done before”.

Richard, who won BGT in 2016, said: “This will be my greatest ever magic show. Within the show the audience will explore the concept of life without limitations. There will be audience members themselves performing impossible feats in front of our eyes.  

“Instead of watching a show, I want my guests to feel immersed in an experience they’ll remember forever. It will also be filled with interactive light hearted moments combined with powerful moving magic.”

Richard’s life has been transformed since winning BGT in 2016. 

He’s travelled the world performing, and has become one of the world’s most sought-after magicians.

Revealing what inspires the content for his shows, he explained: “The magic in my latest show is filled with ideas and concepts that I’ve been working on for many many years. I always carry a little pocketbook with me and every time I have an idea I jot it into the book.

“Usually those ideas are exciting but I have no idea how they could ever be possible. Gradually over time, the more I think about them the more I find clever ways of making the impossible possible.

Looking ahead to his visit to Caerphilly, Richard said: “I always enjoy visiting south Wales because the people there are the friendliest bunch you could ever want to perform for. I’ve also been told when I get there I must try the famous cheese and visit the  castle so I’ll be making time for that.”

Reflecting on his life changing Britain’s Got Talent win, Richard said: “The biggest thing I will always be grateful for is how the show opened my eyes up to see huge kindness amongst strangers. Knowing millions of people wished me well and voted to help me to follow my dreams is something I will never forget. 

“It still makes me emotional to think about it now. The nice thing about taking my show around the UK is I get to meet lots of those kind people when I’m in the foyer after my show.

“I never expected to win, so in that tense moment before Ant and Dec announced my name all I could think about was my memory of sitting at home the year before watching the same tense situation. I couldn’t believe I was on that stage. 

“I could also hear my mum cheering in the audience. Although in reality it was only a few seconds, it felt like an hour before they announced the winner. I was shocked when it was me.

“I think BGT is the most amazing show to help anyone with a passion to share it with the world. Even if you don’t make it to the TV round there is lots to gain from the experience of auditioning.”

Paying tribute to the support he’s had from Simon Cowell, who was left wowed by Jones’ performances back in 2016, Richard added: “I have a huge amount of respect for Simon. I am an ambassador of the wonderful children’s charity ‘Together for Short Lives’ of which Simon is a patron and huge supporter of. So, I often bump into him when they hold fundraising events. He is always very kind and I’ve noticed on many occasions how he goes out of his way to make the staff of the charity and venue feel extra appreciated.”

Richard is performing at Caerphilly’s Workmen’s Hall on Saturday March 2. Doors 7pm. Show starts at 7.30pm
