Daffodils, Welsh cakes, Cawl, and a roaring rendition of the Welsh national anthem. These were all part of the St David’s Day celebrations at Libanus Lifestyle in Blackwood.
Residents and volunteers – including one dressed like a sheep – helped to celebrate the patron saint a day early, on February 29.
The celebration took place on the same day as the centre’s Thursday warm hub – also known as ‘welcome spaces’.
Despite fears that the sessions would stop due to funding issues, the not-for-profit community interest company has secured a grant from the National Lottery.
This means the service will continue on Thursdays for at least another year.
