A community social group which gives retired and semi-retired people the opportunity to connect with others is looking for new members.

Caerphilly Probus Club meets once a month at Caerphilly Golf Club and regularly invites guest speakers to discuss topics of interest.

The club is part of a network of groups across the UK and around the world.

Stuart Harris has been a member for ten years and is enthusiastic about its social benefits – especially keeping people mentally active.

He said: “It’s a chance to have a coffee and a natter. We’ll listen to the speaker and then the bar opens up and we have lunch. We’re usually here from around 10.15am to 2pm.

“It’s a great day out – and it’s an opportunity for talking and socialising – which is good for the brain.”

Last month, historian Alan Knight showed a film depicting the history of Cardiff.

The club meets at 10.15am on the second Monday of every month at Caerphilly Golf Club, on Mountain Road, Caerphilly town.

Its next meeting is on March 11 with the title of the talk being “The Grand old Duke of York”.

For more information about joining contact Stuart Harris on 07970823811.
