Bargoed, Bedwas, Cross Keys, and Newbridge all won in the WRU National Championship on March 9

Bargoed sealed a narrow 36-34 win away at St Peters as they continued their WRU National Championship East title push on Saturday March 9.

They were handed a boost from rivals Bedwas, who defeated third-place Ystrad Rhondda 17-15 away from home.

There was also a win for Cross Keys, who remain fourth after beating Glamorgan Wanderers 31-21 at Pandy Park.

Newbridge meanwhile won 38-33 at bottom-place Treorchy.

However, there was disappointment for Penallta, who fell to a 43-12 loss at Beddau.

In League One East, Ynysddu have dropped to third after losing 31-21 at home to Talywain, who replace them in second.

At the other end of the table, bottom-place Risca were beaten 43-28 at home to Bedlinog.

Senghenydd meanwhile lost 20-18 at Blaenavon.

Nelson were the only Caerphilly County Borough team to record a win in League One East, beating Monmouth 21-16 on the road.

In League Two East, Blackwood RFC stay second in the division after an 18-15 victory in Abertillery.

However, Oakdale have slipped back into the relegation zone following a 48-10 drubbing at home to Newport HSOB.

Over in League Two East Central, Caerphilly made the short trip to Pentyrch, where the Cheesemen won 37-22.

Elsewhere, Rhymney got the better of Fleur de Lys in an all-Caerphilly County Borough clash in League Three East – with the Brewers winning 14-13 away.

Abertysswg Falcons also won on the weekend, beating Llanhilleth 32-15 at home to climb to third in the league.

League leaders Abercarn weren’t in action over the weekend, and neither were Machen – who now sit just one place above the relegation places due to results elsewhere.

Down in League Four East, leaders Crumlin suffered a narrow 23-20 defeat at Gwernyfed, while on the other end of the table, Blackwood Stars lost 52-26 away to New Panteg.

League Four East also produced an all-Caerphilly County Borough affair, which saw fifth-place Bedwellty condemn bottom-side New Tredegar to a slender 17-15 defeat.

Meanwhile, Hafodyrnys have climbed up to ninth with a 38-5 win over struggling St Julians.

However, Pontllanfraith‘s unbeaten start in League Five East came to an end with a 17-10 defeat at Beaufort. However, they remain top of the league.

In League Six East, Trinant have risen to second after a high-scoring 52-31 win at home to Old Tylerian.

But there was defeat for Cwmcarn United, who were beaten 42-8 away to Magor and remain bottom of the division.
