Bargoed sealed a narrow 36-34 win away at St Peters as they continued their WRU National Championship East title push on Saturday March 9.
They were handed a boost from rivals Bedwas, who defeated third-place Ystrad Rhondda 17-15 away from home.
There was also a win for Cross Keys, who remain fourth after beating Glamorgan Wanderers 31-21 at Pandy Park.
Newbridge meanwhile won 38-33 at bottom-place Treorchy.
However, there was disappointment for Penallta, who fell to a 43-12 loss at Beddau.
In League One East, Ynysddu have dropped to third after losing 31-21 at home to Talywain, who replace them in second.
At the other end of the table, bottom-place Risca were beaten 43-28 at home to Bedlinog.
Senghenydd meanwhile lost 20-18 at Blaenavon.
Nelson were the only Caerphilly County Borough team to record a win in League One East, beating Monmouth 21-16 on the road.
In League Two East, Blackwood RFC stay second in the division after an 18-15 victory in Abertillery.
However, Oakdale have slipped back into the relegation zone following a 48-10 drubbing at home to Newport HSOB.
Over in League Two East Central, Caerphilly made the short trip to Pentyrch, where the Cheesemen won 37-22.
Elsewhere, Rhymney got the better of Fleur de Lys in an all-Caerphilly County Borough clash in League Three East – with the Brewers winning 14-13 away.
Abertysswg Falcons also won on the weekend, beating Llanhilleth 32-15 at home to climb to third in the league.
League leaders Abercarn weren’t in action over the weekend, and neither were Machen – who now sit just one place above the relegation places due to results elsewhere.
Down in League Four East, leaders Crumlin suffered a narrow 23-20 defeat at Gwernyfed, while on the other end of the table, Blackwood Stars lost 52-26 away to New Panteg.
League Four East also produced an all-Caerphilly County Borough affair, which saw fifth-place Bedwellty condemn bottom-side New Tredegar to a slender 17-15 defeat.
Meanwhile, Hafodyrnys have climbed up to ninth with a 38-5 win over struggling St Julians.
However, Pontllanfraith‘s unbeaten start in League Five East came to an end with a 17-10 defeat at Beaufort. However, they remain top of the league.
In League Six East, Trinant have risen to second after a high-scoring 52-31 win at home to Old Tylerian.
But there was defeat for Cwmcarn United, who were beaten 42-8 away to Magor and remain bottom of the division.
